BioWheels to Lead Mtn Bike Rides for Southern Appalachian Forest Coalition

In honor of Roadless Recreation Week as proclaimed by NC Governor, Bev Perdue, the SAFC is putting on outdoor recreation events that showcase our awesome forest land.

BioWheels will help lead 2 mountain bike rides in some of Pisgah National Forest’s premier roadless areas to raise awareness for the need of undisturbed forests for recreation.

You can go “All Out for Our Forests” just by showing up for one of our rides.

BioWheels // Asheville // U.S. bicycle friendly streets added to Google Maps

Google on Wednesday launched bicycle directions for Google Maps making it easier for cyclists to plan routes in 150 U.S. cities including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Portland and Washington, DC. You can use Google Maps to find cycling-specific directions in urban areas, and by default Google Maps will plan your route to avoid steep hills whenever possible. The new maps feature can also be used as a map layer to get an overall sense of cycling accessibility in a particular city. Read the rest of this entry »
